Shower
A series of vignettes
Part III
She sat in the corner of the couch unobserved by most, herself observing.
Underneath dark hair, behind dark eyes, her mind raced to store as much of this strange stimuli as possible to be sorted through and examined in solitude later.
Laughter, she'd seen before. Enthusiasm and generosity were familiar companions. She just couldn't pin down that elusive element making her feel as though everyone else there shared an inside joke.
The rest stood up and gathered to the side of the room, to converse comfortably with an omnipresence like they knew He was there. She was unnoticed and disconnected. She couldn't get the joke.
As others prayed for the bride, the bride prayed for the dark-haired girl in the corner of the couch.
